Typical digital multimeter can’t measure pure ac signal i.e. sinusoidal waveform with accurately. A True-RMS meter is the only one that can accurately measure both the sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal ac waveforms as like as oscilloscope. If the measured ac characteristics are unknown, a True-RMS Meter is the better choice for taking measurements.
